Wednesday, October 20, 2021 It could have been the full moon or it could have been the deer carcass some hunter dropped on the road next to the ranch, but our dogs barked all night long. The carcass was attracting stray dogs at dusk so we knew it might be a challenging night. A cougar might also have been interested in the carcass but I think they drag their pray away to eat it in a safe place. Maybe that is what the barking was all about? The hunter only took the head, so we’re going to have to deal with the rest of it today. ugh. The guardian dogs are doing their job and I’m very grateful that they bark to keep predators away from the herd. And we can schedule ourselves a nap for today. The guardians will find a bit of extra meat in their bowls today and I hope they get caught up on sleep too.
Photo of the Day: It’s called the hunter’s moon this month. I only wish our hunters would use what they kill.

I can relate to irresponsible humans, Linda. We own commercial property and while I don’t believe animal carcasses have been left, we have had everything from tree limbs, cars (presumably stolen), mattresses and small bags of trash left in the dead of night. It is so frustrating.
I hope you are feeling better. A full night’s sleep would have been nice!

And it seems they know it’s wrong – that’s why they do it at night when no one is watching. I have stronger words but not for here….
I am feeling better thanks.
