Sunday, September 12, 2021 With as many people as we had working here last week it was bound to happen. A car pulled in the driveway and the driver said “I think one of your dogs is out”. Oy. So I ran outside and looked for Blue – but there he was barking at a dog on Lower River Road! Crisis averted I thought, must be someone else’s dog. But wait, where’s Charlotte? Crap! That’s Charlotte in the road! As I ran to get her, I saw that someone left the big gate open. It really amazes me how many non farm people do not understand the importance of closing gates!!! Charlotte came as soon as she heard my voice and ran the length of the driveway toward me, she was really happy to be home. No one was happier than Blue however. (photo #2 below) I don’t think she wants to live anywhere but here but seeing the gate totally open made her think a walk might be fun. The best part is Blue stayed here!
And then last night Belle and Banjo heard something under the deck. House dogs to the rescue!! (the dog door is almost always open) Except it was a skunk. ugh. Belle was the smart one and she let Banjo go first. He got a bit of spray in his face and his body seems fine. I’ll deal with him after coffee. ugh. Dogs. Good thing I love ’em all.
Photo of the Day: Charlotte back on the job and so happy to be home.
Blue was the happiest of all.
I was just trying to save you! Sorry i stink now. ~Banjo

Sorry about the skunk. I put my dogs out about 10 and now that the sun is down I make a LOT of noise. Not that that deters the neighborhood skunk, who has watched me walk down the stairs nearly to it before s l o w l y walking away. My dufus dog would try to play with it if she saw it… Good luck getting rid of the smell.

OMG, the skunk watches you? yikes! We never see them, only smell them. I used hydrogen peroxide baking soda and Dawn dish soap and he smells better. We might just leave the dog door closed tonight.
