Saturday, September 11, 2021 Everywhere you look today you will find memories and ways to honor those lost on 9/11 and thoughts on how that infamous day changed our lives. I hope you will find your own way to remember September 11, 2001.
Farm life doesn’t take a break for any holidays and I will admit that the continual rhythm of animal care is grounding and soothing. Finding hay this year has been challenging and I’m so relieved to report that we finally have both hay barns stacked full and we can make it through the winter months. It’s right up there with that day after shearing day feeling. Whew. We dodged a few raindrops yesterday getting it all stacked but I think 99% of it is dry. #grateful

The hay is beautiful. As a former horse owner, I can relate to the challenges of getting good quality hay. When I was recently in Iceland we passed many farms with the huge round bales shrink wrapped in plastic.
As for 911: I hope we never forget…

The best part of finding this hay is that he wants us for a customer next year and will have what we need. 🙏

9/11 is always tied to our first alpacas. We hadn’t moved to our farm yet. I was getting ready to go visit our first purchases that day and saw the horror on the Today Show. When I got to the farm we bought them from, the owners hadn’t heard yet. I had to tell them. It was such a terrible day, with the only bright thing being I got to visit those first four girls that we’d recently bought. The rhythm of their daily life went on, and it helped us people handle it all.
Your hay looks awesome. We’re hoping for ours to come tomorrow!

Wow, what a way to remember 9/11. Seems like the alpacas did help.
Good luck with your hay!
