Friday, September 3, 2021 It was 18 years ago this weekend that we packed up more than 50 alpacas, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a flock of chickens and moved them all to Woodland Utah. There was no barn, minimal fencing and the house was just a dream as we lived in what we called “the trailer”. We set up Costco tents for the animals and tried to settle in. I loved this property from the moment I saw it and felt like I was finally home. (It took Ed a few more years) One sound I remember from that first weekend was the sound of the sandhill cranes. So many of them and I loved their call! They are beginning their fall migration now and we won’t see them again til next spring. But every time I hear them I remember that first weekend in Woodland. What a journey it’s been! #grateful

What a phenomenal life you and Ed have created in Woodland. Grateful for your daily blog that brings such joy and humor.

Awwww, thanks for checking in on us Sunny. ❤️

Lovely photo. Two of them look like they were honking (or whatever cranes do). We’ll soon be seeing the Canada geese flying over and they honk as they fly. Where did you move from?
Linda
We moved from a town called Herriman west of Salt Lake City. Dry and hot, we couldn’t get a blade of grass to grow. No trees at all on our 5 acres and I was searching for cooler, wetter property with grass and trees and water. I found it!
