Sunday, June 20, 2020 The best feeling ever is when shearing day is over! The day went off without a hitch, weather was cloudy and cool enough that everyone was comfortable. We finished 44 alpacas at 12:08 thanks to an outstanding shearing crew and the best helpers in the world. Thanks so much to all of you who came to help – and the fact that you all seem to enjoy it is wonderful! The alpacas are so comfortable today and enjoying a lazy morning. Me too.
Happy Father’s Day to all the caring dads out there!

And a shearing day video – I added some music to help with the “protesting alpaca” noises.

Yay! We’re still waiting. grrr. Should be this week. That was fast work! Can’t wait til ours are done. In the 90’s today and tomorrow. This is way too late in my opinion. more grrr

So sorry you’re still waiting. This heat makes it so hard for humans and alpacas. I DO understand!

Yay! I’m so happy to hear that everything went well. It’s always a stressful time. I hope that you get some r & r today and that Ed has a wonderful Father’s Day.
P.S. that fiber looked luxurious!

So glad to have it all behind us. Happy Father’s day to Matt too!

Thanks so much for including the shearing video! My grandaughter loved it and now understands how gentle the process can be; also, to see the (almost) complete pelt (?) so carefully kept in one piece. It was a really great example of how things move from one step to another and end up in my knitting basket!

I’m glad i remembered to capture the video too and happy that your granddaughter enjoyed learning how it all happens. We call it a fleece – I think a pelt might include the skin of a deceased animal, and we sure don’t do that. 😀
