Friday, June 4, 2021 One week from today is shearing day and this year I’m sure the alpacas will appreciate their winter coats being removed. We’re having a heat wave! Sheesh – today it will reach 90° here and that is really hard on our fully fleeced friends. But we have plenty of shade and I’ve let them have more access to the creek to cool off. Some of the animals seem fine with the heat, but a few, like our Gracie do not tolerate it at all. When I see her nostrils flaring and rapid breathing I know we need to do something, so I open the gate and she races to the creek. The alternative would be to hose her legs and belly, but the creek works well for us…. and Gracie. She’s going to feel so much better next Friday. Have a great weekend!
Photo of the Day: Gracie dipped her legs, belly and neck in the cold water and her breathing returned to normal. She was dry and comfortable a few hours later.

I agree, Denis. I have a little of Millie’s yarn and I treasure it. I tried my had at knitting and instead of it being relaxing, I was completely stressed out with all my mistakes and undoing. Decided to enjoy the yarn as is! And I have to laugh at “little Millie” since she is one BIG girl!
Linda
LOL I also laughed at “little” Millie because as you know Gigi, she is one big girl!

Wish I had a creek to dip my legs and belly into! 😂😂
Linda
Really! It’s an amazing thing and many of us have cooled off that way. Grandkids especially!
