Thursday, April 22, 2021 Happy Earth Day! Today is a day we promote environmental awareness and call for the protection of our planet. Did you know alpacas are one of the earth friendliest animals on this planet? Their soft padded feet are gentle on newly growing grass, they gently bite the grass but do not rip it up, and they share a communal dung pile which will be later used to fertilize plants, gardens and pastures. And then they turn the grass they eat into amazing fleece and start the process all over. I’m so grateful to share the earth with these amazing creatures.
Today I’m sending a carload of fleeces to our processor in Salt Lake City to get felt sheets made to use for our very own boot liners! The boot liners we sell from our co-op are very popular but they are getting more and more expensive to purchase so I decided we should try to do it on our own. This will be a perfect use for the older animals’ fleeces that are too short or too coarse for nice yarn. And you just know I need one more project! lol Happy Thursday, stay well~
