Alpaca play

Saturday, April 17, 2021 Someone recently asked me if they could come play with the alpacas. Although I’ve lived with alpacas and cared for them for more than 20 years I can’t say I’ve ever played with them. Because their idea of play is absolutely no fun for me. They would try to knock me off my feet as they do when they play with each other. Ha ha…NOT! I like my relationship with alpacas to be built on trust and respect. They trust me to understand their fears and respect their need to be with each other, I trust them to respect me and that I don’t like them to invade my space. If I invite them to be close to me that’s good, but please don’t invade my space uninvited, especially from the rear when I’m carrying hay! (oh yes they have)  R E S P E C T  … sing it Aretha!   OK, now that you have that song in your head I will wish you happy Saturday and I’ll be here again tomorrow.  stay well~

I recall when I visited Blue Moon with my sister, brother, and sister-in-law, you were quick to maintain the the space around us as the girls came over to see what we were all about. The youngsters were particularly curious. Then there was Millie! Off by herself not missing a bite of the grass she was munching on. Been there, done that. Just let me eat!
