Tuesday March 9, 2021 Ever since we’ve lived in Woodland I’ve enjoyed the birds and their comings and goings at different times of the year. Bald eagles in winter, swallows in spring, orioles in summer and the Redwing black birds all year long to name just a few. But the arrival of the sandhill cranes in early spring is probably my favorite. It seems it’s a little early for them right now, but I’ve been hearing their delightful calls for the past 2 days. They’re opportunistic eaters so they will eat whatever is available, but having so much snow melted will help them find food. They also mate for life and I think that’s really sweet.

I love this time of year too especially when I hear the sandhill cranes as they pass overhead in small groups .
