Wednesday, February 3, 2021 Unlike the humans who live here, alpacas will almost always follow the path, follow the group, and rarely think on their own. It’s not safe for them to be any other way. It’s the difference between the prey animal (them) and the predator (us). It’s also part of what makes us want to take care of them. Sweet little fraidy cats. 😁 I really think they follow the paths to avoid deep snow or unsure footing and it just becomes a habit.
It was warm enough yesterday that the alpacas were seeking out the shade! Almost 50° for the warm before the storm and I will admit I even had to take off my jacket as I worked outside. It’s drizzling and starting to snow as I type, today will be a wet one. Hoping it’s white but even rain will help fill our shrinking reservoirs. Stay well~
Photo of the Day: Following the well worn path. Can you see the alternate route from the shade zone?
