What do they eat?

Wednesday, January 27, 2021 Way back before the pandemic when we used to do tours we were often asked “What do they eat?” Grass and hay is actually all they need. With one exception. They need minerals. I offer them free choice so they can eat them as their bodies tell them to. Lately, they’ve been devouring them. Then they’ll leave them alone for a while.  The boys have been loving theirs too so it might be related to the weather. Anyway, these are specifically made for alpacas by a company in Georgia, so i spend as much for shipping as I do for the minerals. But these are the ones they like, so we pay the shipping. Goat and sheep minerals are readily available, but the copper requirements for alpacas are quite unique so I like to stick with tried and true.  I got a new bag this week and everyone is happy about that. Our minerals come from Custom Milling in Davisboro Georgia if you have alpacas and want to give them a try.  No stress plus an appropriate diet = a healthy happy herd!
