Sunday December 6, 2020 I was taking my shower when the day started to fall apart. I could see from the shower window some commotion in the boys pasture. ARGHHHH! The gate was open and the big boys were smashing the little boys to the ground. Because Remy is so tiny, i knew he’d be at the bottom of one pile and he could get seriously hurt. Dry off a bit, put on enough clothes not to freeze and run outside to stop the mounting and put everyone back where they belong. (not as easy as it sounds) Ed came out to help and we finally got them all sorted out. And hour or so later, Ed asks if I’ve seen Blue. Oh oh. No Blue. I took his food out, he usually runs to me and is so excited for his meal, but still, no Blue. ARGHHHH! I called and called, I almost thought I heard him barking in the distance and Ed took off with the car to follow the barks. He found him trapped in some old barbed wire close to Lower River Road, and after calling me for the wire cutters, we got him free. (again not as easy as it might sound) As I was feeding Blue I noticed several of the girl alpacas COVERED in cockle burrs, I mean covered. ARGHHHH! I was too upset to even think to take a photo. I spent the rest of the afternoon pulling them off one at a time, dodging kicks and spit. Actually Madeline, who had the most was a complete Angel once we got her haltered. I was pulling them out of her armpits, toes and belly. As I finally got back to the house I realized it was time for afternoon feeding and there would be no knitting or felting once again. So actually everything ended up OK, just 2 exhausted farmers who slept very well that night. Stay well~
Photo of the day: Banjo got tired just listening to me tell the adventure of the day.

OMG. What a day!!! Shakespeare’s “All’s well that ends well” – while a nice sentiment, usually doesn’t cut is for the frustration factor. Here’s hoping the rest of the week will be much less stressful!

Thanks! I’m sure it will! All is calm with the alpaca boys this morning and I can see Blue! yay

Oh, no! I had missed this post! Talk about Murphy’s Law…. This is a fine example! So glad it all turned out okay, but what a jolt to your systems! Leaving a hot shower, probably with wet hair, braving the freezing cold! Blue missing! Thankful for his loud bark…and wire cutters! Burrs! Dodging kicks and spits! I was as exhausted as Banjo when I read what a crazy day you had! Well done, you two dedicated farmers! It was a fun story to read, although not a good one to experience!
