Thursday June 18, 2020 When we decided to add a third guardian dog, I looked for rescues for more than a year. I knew Chief was aging and didn’t want to wait until Charlotte was a single guardian to find her some help. I was discouraged by the rescues who #1 Did not think I was a good home for a dog because we allow them to live outside with the herd or #2 dogs who had issues and could not be trusted around other dogs or kids. So I started to consider a puppy. But puppies are so much work! We had raised 3 Pyr pups here so I knew what I was talking about! But I found a breeder in Kansas who had a beautiful litter and was making a trip to Utah when the pups were 10 weeks old. Perfect! We picked the big male pup with the Blue collar (also kept the name!) and had no idea that the pandemic would be in full swing by the time he was coming to Utah. Fast forward to present day 5 month old pandemic puppy and he’s wonderful. He’s learning from Chief and Charlotte what his main job is (keep alpacas safe) but also loves people, especially kids. I’ll be happy when we can have visitors again to see how he likes that! Until then – stay well~
Photo of the day: Catch me if you can. What a happy week this has been for Blue!
