Monday June 8, 2020 The alpacas are all tucked in the barns and the white stuff is piling up. Welcome to June in the mountains of Utah!
As promised, a Monday update regarding the status of Blue Moon Ranch opening to visitors: This was just published this weekend by Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment
“Yesterday the Utah Dept. of Health reported 543 new cases of COVID-19. That is the largest single day jump in infections, and more in one day than in the first three weeks of the pandemic. Community spread is going in the wrong direction, obviously.
If the economy is to rebound, people must continue to be as vigilant as they were when this started. Within about two weeks, the spike in infections will create a similar spike in hospitalizations and death.
Many people think that the pandemic means a few people will die, but if they are healthy and get infected they will be asymptomatc or only have a mild case, and there is nothing in between. Actually there is a lot in between. No one should dismiss that this can lead to serious illness even in young, healthy people. Recovery from the virus can be prolonged, resulting in long term fatigue and loss of lung function or other organ damage, and can even cause permanent disability. Everyone needs to take this seriously–wear a mask, maintain social distancing, and encourage everyone you know to do the same.”
So what I’m saying today, is we’re not ready to safely open yet and let’s see how things look next week. I’ll update our visitor status again on Monday June 15. Thanks for your patience and please stay well~
