Thursday May 14, 2020 Taking care of your mental health is so critical these days. Is your temper a bit short? Are you pushed to tears by almost nothing? It’s hard! I get it. Whether you’re working and risking your health or staying home to protect it, these are hard times to be living through. So take it easy on yourself. My wise daughter wrote these word a few weeks ago and I repeat them to myself when I need to. Maybe they will help you too.
“Sometimes lovingkindness isn’t lofty or pretty. Sometimes it can just be giving yourself a break.
Are you gaining or losing weight because eating is weird as hell with the pandemic? Maybe just give yourself a break.
Are you enjoying downtime or other aspects of this strange liminal time, and feel guilty for your moments of happiness when others are suffering? Maybe just give yourself a break.
Are you feeling yourself as a ball of anxiety and dread? Maybe just give yourself a break.
Are you watching a lot of movies or tv or having obsessive screen time? Maybe just give yourself a break.
Are your moods all over the place? Maybe just give yourself a break.
Are you full of grief? Maybe just give yourself a break.
Are you unwilling to touch your grief with even a way-longer-than-6-foot-long-
Are you thinking you should be some way other than how you are? Maybe just give yourself a break.
Things are so weird and hard right now. Maybe one of the greatest acts of kindness and love toward ourselves and each other might be to just give ourselves a break.”

These are wonderful words to consider during this time and any other time that seems to heighten anxiety. Thank you for sharing them with us.
