Friday April 5 2019 Because the temps have been agreeable this week, I’ve spent a bit of time outside staring at alpaca bellies looking for cria movement to confirm pregnancies. This is about as scientific as mud, but I enjoy it so it’s what I do. 🙂 Some of the girls seem to be able to hide cria movement until the very end, others show off their kicking babies early. What about blood tests or ultrasound? Well, here’s the way I look at it – either they are pregnant or they are not and in 345 days after the day I let them be with Romulus, (or somewhere around that time) we’ll find out which. I used to do blood tests and ultrasounds until I figured out that neither was 100 accurate, and now I’m comfortable with the wait and see game. This year our babies are expected in late July or early August. Fingers crossed!
