Winter beans are composting in the barn

Saturday March 2, 2019 I’d really love to do some barn clean out today but I’m 100% sure my tractor will get stuck in the snow on the way to the compost piles. And it’s snowing again anyway. Before we hosted our son’s wedding here last year we had a big compost pile going between the girls’ and boys’ barn and it was convenient for winter bean removal. But we got that pasture all cleaned up for the wedding  regrew grass where the pile had been and I quite like it that way now. Or at least I will in the summer. 😉 So I’ll just keep doing what I’ve done all winter and toss more leftover hay over the top of the beans and wait for the snow to melt. It is composting right inside the barn and creating a bit of heat too.  Win win I’d say. Miranda like the tossing of the hay part too. Happy Saturday!

Photo of the day: Miranda likes wearing her food. lol
