Saturday December 8, 2018 After our most recent sales, our male herd is now down to 9 boys, the lowest I can ever remember. And you know what? It’s just fine. They all get along great, I put out less than one bale of hay each day, and there is plenty of space in their barn for them all to get a good spot for eating or sleeping. But because we allow them all to run together, their rank is still important to them. Yesterday I got to watch as Lincoln, a 2 year old, decided it was time to challenge Mojo, one of the top ranking boys. What I found even more interesting is that this was done in total quiet, since these boy “dances” are often quite noisy! Who won? I think this one was a tie. Which means we’ll see this dance again.
