Monday June 11, 2018 Monday sweet Monday. Back to the routines I love and ready to enjoy the peaceful beauty of Blue Moon Ranch today. I will open a few bags of fleece today and start the skirting process. Meggan, one of our helpers did pre-skirting this year at shearing day so I think it will be a breeze! (thanks Meg) Also, no cria fleeces which take hours to skirt because they pick up every piece of vegetation for miles it seems. I plan to finish up the June newsletter – May newsletter never made it off my desk and we’ve had a lot of new sign ups so I will get June done for sure.
One more tidbit….I’ve often said to Ed if I had to start a herd all over with only 2 alpacas, I’d choose Marcella, for white (daughter of Madeline and El Nino’s Golden Legend at Delphi alpacas) and our tiny black Miranda, one of the finest true black adults we’ve ever had (Mom to Mojo and Ciara) Well guess what? I saw babies kicking both of them! Whooo-hoo!
Photo of the day: If I didn’t know better I’d say he was smiling! This is Romulus waiting his turn for shearing. They used a bean bag type thing to hold the neck this year and it worked very well.
