Wednesday May 9, 2018 When I finally opened my eyes yesterday morning, I saw brilliant yellow all over the back yard … the dandelions had bloomed while we were away. I also know that dandelions are very good for alpacas and they love to eat them. So the conclusion was forgone. I closed the dog door to keep the house dogs inside and let the herd and their guardians move into the back yard for the day. The alpacas ate almost every dandelion plus trimmed the grass up quite nicely! We planted the back yarn grass with this concept in mind – it ‘s a mixture of orchard grass and Kentucky bluegrass. Rye grass or mixes with fescue could make them sick. Our “lawn” isn’t pretty but it’s very functional. Happy Wednesday!
Photo of the day: My quiet and efficient lawnmowers. No more yellow.
