Friday February 16, 2018 The redwing black birds are singing like they think it’s spring. It’s alway a welcome sound that starts in February and goes on for most of spring. They appreciate the water in the creek, the tall cottonwood trees for roosting and the all you can eat buffet of sunflower seeds that I put out for them. The red is just starting to appear on the wings of the males and soon it will be brilliant as they search for a mate. You might see a few at the feeder or in the trees over the creek if you visit us on Saturday for our midwinter Open house. We’ll be open from 1 – 4.
