Thursday October 26, 2017 Our alpaca herd is aging. And because we do not support the meat market, we will be caring for these old souls for as long as they need us to. Their fiber isn’t the softest any longer, they can’t always keep up with the running herd but I think they’ve earned a happy retirement and although it might not be a wise business decision, it’s the way we do it here. I’ve heard all the arguments for using alpacas for meat and not one resonates with me. So here they are and here they’ll stay. The sales of soft yarn from the younger ones will help us feed these old souls.
