Monday, June 26, 2017 We started raising alpacas in 1998 and every single year since then we’ve had babies born in the summer … except for this year. So how does it feel? Do I miss those adorable babies and being able to witness the miracle of birth? Of course, but ya know what? It also feels very right to have taken this year as a rest. It’s relaxing to sit on the deck each evening and look out at the herd not stressing about what births might be approaching. It’s nice to be able to make travel plans and be away from the ranch for a few hours without panic setting in after an hour away. Will we have more babies? Of course!! 🙂 We’ll start breedings again this week and I’ll be more than ready for the pitter patter of little alpaca toes next spring.
Photo of the day: We do love the babies and will be ready for them next year.

Hi Linda: I saw one of the kittens playing in the hay bin by the camera earlier today. Now the camera is at a slightly different angle (don’t know if it’s kitty-related) and I LOVE it! Not only can we see under the awning, but out into the adjoining area as well. If it can work for you it would be nice to keep it this way!
