Monday, June 19, 2017 June is not only for alpaca shearing but also for outside dog grooming. The three guardian dogs are shedding their dense winter undercoats and I’m the one who helps get it all out. Charlotte is almost done, and yesterday I decided to take advantage of the fact that Chief was resting in the shade and seemed agreeable to the raking. He has the densest coat of all, maybe because he grew up in the mountains with no shelter in winters (before he came here)? I sure don’t have to worry about him staying warm in the winter.
Photo of the day: Chief was very cooperative while I combed out one entire side of his body. Now I have to hope he takes another nap with the other side facing up!
