Friday, September 4, 2015 Thanks for all the suggestions on finding a helper for Chief. Our local shelter is unique in that they will allow dogs into situations like ours, most shelters require that the dog be a house pet. Also most house pets who have been surrendered to shelters do not take to the job of guardian as quickly as you might think. So a mountain dog who has been in a guarding sheep environment since birth will do best here. Plus these dogs do not do well in pet homes, so it’s a win win. We’ll keep looking, I’m not in a hurry at all. Happy Friday!
